Apple Event 2023: iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max launching today

Apple Event 2023 is set to unveil its latest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, at its “Wonderlust” event tonight at 10:30 p.m. IST. The event will be streamed live from Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, and can be watched on Apple’s YouTube channel.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to be the most premium and powerful models in the iPhone 15 lineup, which also includes the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Here’s a look at what to expect from the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max in terms of design, specifications, features, and price in India.

Apple Event 2023: Expected Design

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are rumored to have a lighter, more durable titanium chassis with a brushed effect to reduce fingerprint smudges. The device’s edges could be smoother and more rounded where the metal meets the glass. The renders so far show a USB-C port at the bottom, replacing the Lightning port that has been used on iPhones since 2012.

One of the most noticeable changes in the design of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is the replacement of the mute switch with an “Action Button” that has customizable functionality. This button could allow users to perform various tasks quickly, such as launching Siri, taking screenshots, toggling dark mode, or accessing shortcuts.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are also expected to have larger displays than their predecessors, as the leaks show reduced bezels around the screen. The screen size is likely to remain the same as the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, which are 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively, but with a higher resolution and a higher refresh rate.

Apple Event 2023: Expected Specs

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to be powered by the A17 Bionic chip, which is said to be based on a 3 nm process and offers improved performance and efficiency over the A16 Bionic chip that powers the iPhone 14 series. The A17 Bionic chip could also enable new features such as satellite communication, which could allow users to send emergency messages or make calls without cellular coverage.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are also expected to have improved cameras, especially in the telephoto and ultra-wide-angle lenses. The telephoto lens could have a periscope design that enables up to 4x optical zoom, while the ultra-wide-angle lens could have a larger sensor and a faster aperture that improves low-light performance. The main camera could also have a higher resolution of 48 MP, up from 12 MP on the iPhone 14 series.

Another camera feature that could debut on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is the “Cinematic mode”, which could allow users to record videos with a shallow depth of field and automatic focus changes. This mode could mimic the cinematic effects seen in professional movies and enhance the video quality of the iPhones.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are also expected to have a new “U2” ultra-wideband chip that enhances location tracking in the Find My app. This chip could also enable new features such as AirDrop proximity alerts, car key sharing and smart home control.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to have larger batteries than their predecessors, with capacities of 4,852 mAh and 4,352 mAh respectively. These batteries could support faster charging speeds of up to 35 W for wired charging and up to 15 W for wireless charging using MagSafe accessories. The iPhones could also have a more repairable design that makes it easier to replace components such as the battery or the screen.

Apple Event 2023: Expected Price

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to get a massive price hike compared to their predecessors. According to some leaks, the iPhone 15 Pro could start at $1,099 (around Rs. 91,200), up from $999 (around Rs. 82,900) for the iPhone 14 Pro, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max could start at $1,299 (around Rs. 1,07,800), up from $1,099 (around Rs. 91,200) for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The price hike could be due to various factors such as higher production costs, higher component costs, higher taxes and tariffs, and higher demand for premium smartphones. However, these prices are not confirmed yet and could change before or after the launch.

The India prices of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are not known yet, but they are likely to be higher than their US prices due to additional taxes and duties. The India prices of the iPhone 14 series were Rs. 1,19,900 for the iPhone 14 Pro (128 GB) and Rs. 1,29,900 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max (128 GB). The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max could cost around Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 more than their predecessors in India.
