- इंटेल कॉरपोरेशन दुनिया की सबसे बडी सेमीकंडक्टर कंपनी है। इंटेल ने ही सबसे पहले माइक्रोप्रोसेसर बनाना चालू किया। आज ज्यादा से ज्यादा कंप्यूटर कंपनी इंटेल का चिप इस्तेमाल करती है।
- इंटेल कंप्यूटर सिस्टम निर्माताओं (manufacturers)जैसे ऐप्पल, लेनोवो, एचपी और डेल के लिए प्रोसेसर की आपूर्ति करता है। इंटेल मदरबोर्ड चिपसेट, नेटवर्क इंटरफेस कंट्रोलर और एकीकृत सर्किट, फ्लैश मेमोरी, ग्राफिक्स चिप्स, एम्बेडेड प्रोसेसर और संचार और कंप्यूटिंग से संबंधित अन्य उपकरणों का भी निर्माण करता है।

केंद्र सरकार आत्मनिर्भर योजना के तहत देश में तमाम तरह की मैन्यूफैक्चरिंग (Manufacturing) को बढ़ावा देने पर फोकस कर रही है, जिसमें सेमीकंडक्टर (Semiconductor) भी शामिल है।
सेमी कंडक्टर सभी तरह के इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उत्पादों में लगने वाले अहम कलपुर्जों में आता है। पूरी दुनिया में सेमी कंडक्टर की सप्लाई में आई कमी से हाल ही में स्मार्टफोन, लैपटॉप, PCs, कार और तमाम तरह के उत्पादों के प्रोडक्शन पर प्रतिकूल असर पड़ा है।इस बीच खबर है कि फैबलेस चिप बनाने वाली अमेरिकी कंपनी Intel भारत में सेमीकंडक्टर बनाने के लिए एक यूनिट लगा सकती है।
आईटी और इलेक्ट्रोनिक्स मिनिस्टर Ashwini Vaishnaw ने ट्वीटर पर इंटेल का स्वागत करते हुए लिखा है “Intel – welcome to India“
हाल ही में यूनियन कैबिनेट ने भारत में सेमीकंडक्टर और डिस्पले मैन्यूफैक्चरिंग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए 76,000 करोड़ रुपए की एक योजना को मंजूरी दी है। सरकार देश को हाईटेक प्रोडक्शन के हब के तौर पर विकसित करना चाहती है।
कैबिनेट के इस फैसले के बारे में बताते हुए अश्वनी वैष्णव ने कहा था कि हमारी रोजमर्रा की जिंदगी में इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स प्रोडक्ट्स की अहम भूमिका हो गई है। वहीं इलेक्ट्रोनिक प्रोडक्ट्स में सेमीकंडक्टर चिप की अहम भूमिका होती है। देश को हाईटेक प्रोडक्ट का ग्लोबल हब बनाने के लिए सेमीकंडक्टर चिप बनाने में हमें महारत हासिल करनी होगी जिसको ध्यान में रखते हुए सरकार ने 76,000 करोड़ रुपए की यह योजना शुरु की है।
इस स्कीम के तहत इंडस्ट्रीज की तरफ से 1.7 लाख करोड़ रुपए का निवेश मिलने और 1.35 लाख रोजगार के अवसरों के सृजन की उम्मीद है। इसके साथ ही यह भी उम्मीद है कि इस स्कीम के तहत मीडिया टेक, इंटेल क्वालकॉम, टेक्सस इस्ट्रूमेंट जैसी कंपनियां भारत में अपनी ईकाईयां लगाने के लिए प्रोत्साहित हो सकती हैं।
आईटी मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने इंटेल फाउंड्री सर्विसेज के अध्यक्ष रणधीर ठाकुर के एक पोस्ट के बाद भारत में इंटेल का 'स्वागत' करने के लिए ट्विटर का सहारा लिया। रणधीर ठाकुर ने अपनी पोस्ट में भारत सरकार द्वारा हाल में घोषित सेमीकंडक्टर डिजाइन और विनिर्माण नीति की तारीफ की थी। सरकार उस समय यह स्कीम लेकर आने की तैयारी में है जब पूरी दुनिया सेमी कंडक्टर की सप्लाई की कमी की समस्या रही है। इस स्कीम के तहत भारत की सेमी कंडक्टर मैन्यूफैक्चरिंग हब बनाने की योजना है।
