iQOO 12 Series launched in China with a stunning display and powerful camera sensors

iQOO, a sub-brand of vivo, has recently launched its latest flagship series, the iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro, in China. These phones are expected to arrive in India next month, with the iQOO 12 confirmed to be available on Amazon. The iQOO 12 series boasts of some impressive features, such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a 144Hz LTPO OLED display, a triple camera system with 100x zoom, and fast charging support. Here is everything you need to know about these powerful and premium devices.

iQOO 12 series Design and Display

The iQOO 12 series has a sleek and elegant design, with different finishes and colors for each model. The iQOO 12 Pro has a curved glass back with a porcelain enamel texture for the white BMW Motorsport edition, a fluorite AG glass with a soft shimmer for the black model, and a vegan leather with a wind imprint texture for the red model. The camera module on the back has a Paris hobnail texture, giving it a unique look. The iQOO 12 Pro also has a thin frame and tapered edges, making it comfortable to hold. The iQOO 12, on the other hand, has a flat glass back with the same color options and finishes as the Pro model, but with a wider and glossy frame. The iQOO 12 also has a flat front panel, unlike the curved one on the Pro model.

iQOO 12 series

The display on the iQOO 12 series is one of the highlights of these phones. The iQOO 12 Pro has a 6.78-inch E7 AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440×3200 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The display can reach up to 1,600 nits of brightness under normal conditions and 3,000 nits in peak mode. The display also supports 1440Hz PWM dimming, HDR10+, and DCI-P3 color gamut. The iQOO 12 has a similar-sized 6.78-inch display but with a lower resolution of 2800×1260 pixels and the same refresh rate of 144Hz. The display on the iQOO 12 also supports HDR10+ and DCI-P3 color gamut. Both phones have a center-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera and slim bezels around the screen.

Performance and Software

The iQOO 12 series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is the latest and most powerful processor from the company. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is based on a 4nm process and has an octa-core CPU with a 3.0GHz Cortex-X2 prime core, three 2.5GHz Cortex-A710 performance cores, and four 1.8GHz Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. The chipset also has an Adreno 730 GPU, a Hexagon 801 DSP, a Spectra 680 ISP, and a Snapdragon X65 5G modem. The chipset supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and dual-SIM 5G connectivity.

iQOO 12 series

The iQOO 12 series also comes with a self-developed Q1 chip, which is an e-sports chip that enhances the gaming performance of the phones. The Q1 chip can ensure smooth gaming up to 144Hz (at 1080p) and can do tricks like low-latency frame insertion, superframe, and super-resolution (DLSS-like supersampling). The iQOO 12 series also has a large vapor chamber for heat dissipation, which covers an area of 5,705mm² on the Pro model and 5,000mm² on the standard model.

The iQOO 12 series offers up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The iQOO 12 Pro has three variants: 12GB+256GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB. The iQOO 12 has four variants: 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB. The iQOO 12 series runs on Vivo’s new OriginOS 4, based on Android 14. OriginOS 4 is a revamped version of Vivo’s custom skin, which features a new design, widgets, animations, gestures, and more.

Camera and Battery

The iQOO 12 series has a capable triple camera system on the back, which consists of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera. The main camera on both phones uses a 1/1.3-inch OmniVision OV50H sensor with an f/1.75 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). The main camera can capture detailed and vivid photos in various lighting conditions, and can also record 8K videos at 30fps and 4K videos at 60fps. The ultra-wide camera on both phones uses a 1/1.56-inch Samsung S5KGM5 sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 15mm equivalent focal length. The ultra-wide camera can capture a 120-degree field of view and can also do macro photography as close as 2.5cm. The telephoto camera on both phones uses a 1/2-inch Sony IMX686 sensor with an f/2.57 aperture and OIS. The telephoto camera on the iQOO 12 Pro is a periscope lens that can do 3x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and up to 100x digital zoom. The telephoto camera on the iQOO 12 Pro can also do telephoto macro photography. The telephoto camera on the iQOO 12 is a normal lens that can do 2x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom.

iQOO 12 series

The iQOO 12 series also has a 16MP selfie camera on the front, which uses a Samsung S5K3P9SP sensor with an f/2.45 aperture. The selfie camera can take clear and natural selfies and can also record 1080p videos at 30fps. The iQOO 12 series also supports various camera modes and features, including night mode, portrait mode, panorama mode, pro mode, AI scene recognition, AI beauty, AI watermark, and more.

The iQOO 12 series has a large battery capacity and fast charging support. The iQOO 12 Pro has a 5,100mAh battery, which can be charged up to 100% in just 15 minutes with the 120W wired fast charger. The iQOO 12 Pro also supports 50W wireless fast charging, which can charge the battery up to 100% in 28 minutes. The iQOO 12 Pro also supports reverse wireless charging, which can charge other devices wirelessly. The iQOO 12 has two battery options: a 5,000mAh battery and a 4,880mAh battery. Both batteries support 120W wired fast charging, which can charge them up to 100% in 16 minutes. The iQOO 12 does not support wireless charging or reverse wireless charging. iQOO claims that the batteries on the iQOO 12 series can retain at least 80% of their capacity after 1,600 cycles.

The iQOO 12 series is currently available in China, with the following prices:
