Lava Blaze 2 5G: A Budget Smartphone with a Ring Light

Lava, an Indian smartphone brand, has launched its latest Lava Blaze 2 5G in the country. The phone is a successor to the Lava Blaze 5G that was released last year. The Lava Blaze 2 5G comes with some notable features, such as a 90Hz display, a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor, and a ring light around the rear camera.

The Lava Blaze 2 5G has a glass back with a circular camera module that houses a 50MP primary sensor and a VGA depth sensor. The camera module also has an LED flash and a ring light that can be used for notifications, alerts, and battery status. The ring light can also be adjusted for brightness, but not for color. The phone comes in three color options: Glass Lavender, Glass Black, and Glass Blue.

The front of the phone has a 6.56-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a punch-hole cutout for the 8MP selfie camera. The display has a refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. The screen also has a peak brightness of 450 nits and supports HDR10 content.

The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. It also supports face unlock via the front camera. The phone has a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio, and a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Performance and Battery

The Lava Blaze 2 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset, which is an octa-core processor with four Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The chipset also has a Mali-G57 MC3 GPU for graphics performance. The phone comes in two variants: 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. The storage type is UFS 2.2, which offers faster read and write speeds than the conventional eMMC type.

The phone runs on Android 13 out of the box, with a near-stock interface that is free from ads and bloatware. The phone also promises to receive an Android 14 update and two years of security updates. The phone also has some useful features, such as anonymous and auto-call recording, battery saver mode, and Hi-Res Audio support for the speaker.

The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging via the USB-C port. The company claims that the phone can offer up to 27 hours of talk time, up to 450 hours of standby time, up to 546 minutes of YouTube playback time, and can be fully charged in about two hours.

Camera and Connectivity

The Lava Blaze 2 5G has a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a VGA depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The primary camera can record videos up to UHD resolution at 30fps, while the depth sensor can be used for portrait mode shots with background blur effects.

The rear camera also supports various modes, such as film, slow motion, timelapse, GIF, beauty, HDR, night, AI, pro, panorama, filters, and intelligent scanning. The intelligent scanning mode can scan QR codes, barcodes, business cards, documents, etc., and provide relevant information or actions.

The front camera is an 8MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture that can capture selfies and video calls. The front camera also has a screen flash feature that can illuminate the screen to provide extra light in low-light conditions.

The phone supports dual-SIM (nano+nano) connectivity, with both SIMs supporting 5G networks. The phone also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (dual-band), Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo/QZSS/SBAS/NavIC navigation systems, OTG support, and FM radio.

Price and Availability

The Lava Blaze 2 5G is priced at Rs. 9,999 for the base variant (4GB+64GB) and Rs. 10,999 for the higher variant (6GB+128GB). The phone will go on sale from November 9 through Lava’s official website and retail network, as well as Amazon.in.

The company also offers free home service for customers who buy the phone within the warranty period. This means that the customers do not have to visit the service centers for any issues, and the company will provide the service at their doorsteps for free.
