The Honor 90 is a mid-range smartphone that was launched in India on September 14, 2023. It is the successor of the Honor 80, which was released in 2022.
Display and Design
The Honor 90 has a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 1200 x 2664 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits. The display supports HDR10+ and DCI-P3 color gamut. The screen-to-body ratio is 92.7%, thanks to the punch-hole design for the front camera. The display also has an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
The Honor 90 has a glass back with a gradient color effect. It is available in three colors: Midnight Black, Emerald Green, and Diamond Silver. The back panel also houses the triple rear camera setup and the Honor logo.
The phone has a metal frame with a power button and a volume rocker on the right side, a SIM tray on the left side, a USB Type-C port a speaker grille on the bottom, and an IR blaster on the top. The phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack or a microSD card slot.
The dimensions of the Honor 90 are 162.9 x 75.5 x 8.9 mm and the weight is 198 grams. The phone has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Processor and Memory
The Honor 90 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition chipset, which is a 4 nm octa-core processor with a clock speed of up to 2.5 GHz.
The chipset has four Kryo Gold cores (Cortex-A78) at 2.5 GHz, four Kryo Silver cores (Cortex-A55) at 1.8 GHz, and an Adreno 644 GPU. The chipset also supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, NavIC, QZSS, and dual-SIM dual-standby (DSDS)1.
The Honor 90 comes in two variants of 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage. It also supports Turbo RAM technology, which can expand the RAM up to 7GB by using part of the internal storage as virtual memory. The storage type is UFS3.1, which offers fast read and write speeds.
Camera and Battery
The Honor 90 has a triple rear camera setup with a 200MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The primary sensor has an aperture of f/1.8, a pixel size of 0.64µm, and supports phase detection autofocus (PDAF), optical image stabilization (OIS), digital zoom up to 10x, and video recording up to 8K at 30fps or 4K at 60fps.
The ultra-wide-angle lens has an aperture of f/2.2, a field of view of 120 degrees, and supports distortion correction and macro mode. The depth sensor has an aperture of f/2.4 and helps in creating bokeh effects for portrait shots.
The Honor 90 also has a 50MP front camera for selfies and video calls. The front camera has an aperture of f/2.0, a pixel size of 0.8µm, and supports fixed focus, HDR, face detection, beautification mode, panorama mode, night mode, time-lapse mode, slow-motion mode, and video recording up to 4K at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps.
The Honor 90 has a 5000mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. The charger is not included in the box but is available for free from the official website or authorized dealers upon showing the invoice of the phone purchase. The phone does not support wireless charging or reverse charging.
Software and Other Features
The Honor 90 runs on MagicOS 7.1, based on Android 13. It promises two years of software updates and three years of security patches. MagicOS 7.1 offers various features such as smart assistant, gesture navigation, dark mode, privacy protection, game mode, screen recorder, split-screen mode, app clone, app lock, and more.
The Honor 90 also has some other features such as dual stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos sound, face unlock, AI scene recognition, AI noise reduction, AI image enhancement, AI video stabilization, and more.
